Our client is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented and creative individual to join the Client Development team in our New York office. This role is responsible for the development, coordination and execution of the Firm's new business processes and initiatives, with a particular emphasis on creating content to reflect and "sell" the high-value services of the Firm and the Firm’s brand in a compelling and client-focused manner. We are looking for an individual who will gain a keen understanding of the Firm's culture and business lines and use this insight to tell a compelling story.
This is a centralized, high profile role which requires the candidate to work closely with other Client Development team members and individuals globally throughout different areas of the Firm. This individual will report to the Director of New Business & Research.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage and coordinate all aspects of the pitch and RFP (proposal) process including project plans, schedules, outlines and deliverables
Develop and create written content to communicate key Firm messages and highlight the high-value services we provide in promoting the Firm, its service offerings, and key individuals to internal and external audiences for new business opportunities
Effectively project-lead a team to respond to procurement-based RFPs while managing multi- practice proposals
Regularly interface with lawyers to understand their practices and new business opportunities
Coordinate relevant client, industry and market research
Explore and develop Firm-level client value positioning statements that can be used to distinguish the Firm in the marketplace
Liaise and build relationships with other business service departments at the Firm, including Finance, Legal Project Management, Knowledge Management, Diversity, Pro Bono, and more to facilitate information gathering for RFPs and pitches
Manage the pitch and proposal database and track all activity and materials, including follow up with team members to determine status and/or next steps
Establish and report on metrics that allow the Firm to better understand and improve processes
Assure all relevant marketing materials (bios, client/matters lists, office/practice descriptions, etc.) are current, accurate, well-written and consistent with the Firm's brand and style
Gain familiarity with process for and support for pricing requests for new business, through pitches, proposals and other sources
Establish and implement post-pitch protocols
Document and share best practices with team members and attorneys
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a similar role in an industry or professional services firm
Interest in and ability to understand the legal/business environment, including industry and related practice terminology
Energetic and enthusiastic team player
Strong writing and communication skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Flexibility to adjust work schedule according to workload demands, and evolve with position as required
